Keshvi IVF & Women Care Hospital
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a medical procedure used to help individuals and couples overcome infertility by assisting in the conception of a child. The term “in vitro” means outside the human body and IVF refers to fertilizing an egg with sperm outside the body, typically in a laboratory setting.
The woman undergoes hormonal treatments to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This is done to increase the chances of obtaining viable eggs for fertilization.
Once the eggs reach maturity, a minor surgical procedure called egg retrieval is performed. A thin needle is inserted through the vaginal wall and into the ovaries to collect the mature eggs.
One or more healthy embryos are selected and transferred into the woman’s uterus through the cervix. This is typically a simple, outpatient procedure.
If the embryo successfully implants into the lining of the uterus, pregnancy begins. The woman will undergo a pregnancy test after a specified period to determine if the procedure was successful.
